چکیده
We establish the equivalence between Multiscale Hybrid-Mixed (MHM) and Hybrid High-Order (MsHHO) methods for a variable diffusion problem with piecewise polynomial source term. Under idealized assumption that local problems defining multiscale basis functions are exactly solved, we prove holds general polytopal (coarse) meshes arbitrary approximation orders. also leverage interchange of properties to perform unified convergence analysis, as well improve on both methods.

Abstract Multiscale–hybrid–mixed Methods
MULTISCALE–HYBRID–MIXED METHODS ALEXANDRE L. MADUREIRA Dedicated to Leo Franca, in memoriam. ABSTRACT. In an abstract setting, we investigate the basic ideas behind the Multiscale Hybrid Mixed (MHM) method, a Domain Decomposition scheme designed to solve multiscale partial differential equations (PDEs) in parallel. As originally proposed, the MHM method starting point is a primal hybrid formula...
متن کاملMultiscale Hybrid-Mixed Method
This work presents a priori and a posteriori error analyses of a new multiscale hybridmixed method (MHM) for an elliptic model. Specially designed to incorporate multiple scales into the construction of basis functions, this finite element method relaxes the continuity of the primal variable through the action of Lagrange multipliers, while assuring the strong continuity of the normal component...
متن کاملBridging the Hybrid High-Order and Hybridizable Discontinuous Galerkin Methods
We build a bridge between the hybrid high-order (HHO) and the hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin (HDG) methods in the setting of a model diffusion problem. First, we briefly recall the construction of HHO methods and derive some new variants. Then, by casting the HHO method in mixed form, we identify the numerical flux so that the HHO method can be compared to HDG methods. In turn, the incorpo...
متن کاملHybrid atomistic-continuum methods for multiscale hydrodynamics
We discuss hybrid atomistic-continuum methods for multiscale hydrodynamic applications. Both dense fluid and dilute gas formulations are considered. The choice of coupling method and its relation to the fluid physics is discussed. The differences in hybrid methods resulting from underlying compressible and incompressible continuum formulations as well as the importance of timescale decoupling a...
